Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure commented the incident left him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
